Abstract:  Two social-economical objectives founded by the Greek-Catholic Bishopric of Oradea: the spirits factory in Beiuş (Bihor County) and „The Pope’s Fountain” spa in Finis. The author shows the role of the Greek-Catholic clerical institution, emphasizing its involvement in the improvement of life standards of the Romanian people, thus contributing to the growth of its level of civilization. Consequently, during the years, this was the main target of many of their activities, such as the foundation of a spirits factory in Beiuş, where the agricultural products of the inhabitants were processed and capitalized, bringing important profits to them. At the beginning the factory was leased and later sold to some local investors. In order to make the life of the villagers easier, the Greek-Catholic bishopric also built beautiful spas. One of these, referred and described in the work is „The Pope’s Fountain” in Finis, which could offer the sick people in need, good treatment with sulphurous water spring. In time, the spa was leased to private investors. Unfortunately, nowadays the two social-economical objectives mentioned above no longer exist.
